How did you get into surfing?

Growing up in a small coastal town, 2 hours south of Sydney, my two sisters and our two best friends taught ourselves to surf since everyone else in town surfed given that there wasn’t much else to do!

Can you give us an idea of what your typical meals in a day would be?

Breakfast: Proftein shake or whole grain oats with natural honey, coconut milk and water
Mid-morning snack: Fruit or natural rice cake with natural peanut butter
Lunch: Either a large salad with tuna/chicken or a veggie salad with plenty of legumes
Afternoon snack: 85% cocoa chocolate or one of Bali’s deliciously made smoothie bowls!
Dinner: If I’m cooking at home, I often integrate organic vegetables, eggs, lentils, quinoa and brown rice for my meals. If I find myself eating out, there are plenty of healthy & affordable cafes around Canggu, Bali with options of Thai, Pho or local Indonesian dishes. Generally, I select a meal with plenty of vegetables, low in GI carbs with a source of protein.

Do you do any stretches or exercises pre- or post-surf?

My partner is Surf Strength Coach, he’s taught me plenty of really good stretches for pre- and post- surfs; I’d highly recommend that people check him out as it is super helpful!

What do you grab for a post-surf snack?

Smoothie bowls are incredibly delicious here in Bali! Our fruit choices are on point, with mangos and papayas being my favourites.

What’s your favourite gear?

I love O’Neill women’s collection as I feel that they have the best designs and styles for surfing. Also, I have absolutely love and adore my OceanZen bikinis as they are knock for their sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Their fabrics are made from 100% recycled bottles and fish nets from the ocean, and if you’re interested in trying some out get 10% off with my discount code: FIONA10 at checkout.

I’m a proud brand ambassador for OceanZen as their values and mine are strongly aligned, providing stylish, environmentally friendly products with ocean conversation in mind. This is the greatest blend of two worlds, and hope more companies will consider such amazing ethical practices.
