Marco is a successful orthodontist and a native of Brazil, and unlike many surfers in his country, he lives quite a distance away from the coast. When he has the opportunity, he and his chubby golden retriever go out and spend as much time as possible by the coast even when the conditions for surfing aren't suitable. Despite his busy work schedule, his desire of surfing is a driving force to continue his passion in spite of the face that he had a 8 year period of non-surfing. After returning from El Salvador, the trip re-ignited his love and passion of surfing and is making it his mission to continue his hard work and eventually, re-locate to a beach where surfing is readily accessible.

How did you get into surfing?
My brother is two years older than I picked up the sport, and I liked the idea so started to accompany him whenever he went. We surfed in the summer on while it was vacation season, and when we made our way to neighboring towns during the holidays so that we were able to surf. Our dream is to continue to travel and find the best, most perfect waves (for us).
Can you give us an idea of what your typical meals in a day would be?
We don't live by the beach, but seafood is definitely my favourite food and really enjoy sushi and sashimi. Seeking more protein during the day, and lesser amounts of carbs as I snack on fruits, veggies and juices. However, on the weekend, there's nothing like a good churrasco and cold beer!
Do you do any stretches or exercises pre- or post-surf?
We have common squares with public exercise equipment, so I tend to spend time on the bars. I try to run about 2 to 3 times a week, just to keep myself fit.
For sure, I will always do a good stretch before a surf session.
What do you you grab for a post-surf snack?
Cold water, juices, fruits or a sandwich, keeps the snacking simple but replenishing the body as well.
What's your favourite gear?
There's nothing like my love for my 6'1" quad and of course, my GoPro.
