#SurferSunday: Ariel Mausenbaum

Cape Town surfer, Ariel Mausenbaum, is one of many South African surfers enjoying the waves at his local break. Milnerton is a popular surf spot but tends to be cold given the Benguela current that flows along Africa’s western shore. His father sparked this surfer’s passion for the waves and is his biggest supporter. Surfing is only one area of his very active and healthy lifestyle.

How did you get into surfing?
I went to my local break with my family and my dad decided to rent me an 8’0″ foamie. This is the day when my love for surfing began.
Can you give us an idea of what your typical meals in a day would be?
My metabolism is pretty awesome so I’m a typical teen: I enjoy having Fruit Loops for breakfast, cheeseburger and chips for lunch and for supper, anything that’s on my plate.
Do you do any stretches or exercises pre- or post-surf?
Nope! My priority is to get into the water and shred.
What do you grab as a post-surf snack?
Leftovers from last night’s dinner 🙂
What’s your favourite gear?
I love my 5’10” Clayton Custom Board.
