#SurferSunday: Patrick Lesniak

Born and raised on the Jersey Shore, Patrick Lesniak is an ambitious, young physiotherapist living an extremely healthy lifestyle. If MTV were to do another show, I'd hope they would use this guy as an example as he beats all of the stereotypes they falsely created. This hard working professional also helps out with a local business, Surfing the Dream, teaching those visiting the shore how to surf and provides tips on stretching & nutrition. Patrick is a great ambassador for the surf lifestyle embracing the healthy, fun in all aspects of his life.

How did you get into surfing?

My mom would take me and my brothers to the beach every day in the summer to keep us busy. It was only a matter of time before I fell in love with the ocean. I would always be boogie boarding at the beach, standing up on a boogie board when I was little and made the transition to a proper surfboard when I was 13.

Can you give us an idea of what your typical meals in a day would be?

Generally, I start my day with a chia pudding bowl with chia, flax seed, coconut flakes, walnuts, cinnamon granola, banana, strawberries and almond milk. At lunch, I'll have some sort of chicken or bean wrap. Also, I make a lot of smoothies and designer protein shakes. For dinner, I'm big into chili stirfrys or a protein packed salad.·

Do you do any stretches or exercises pre-surf or post-surf?

Just a light warm up jog to the line up and shake things out post-surf try with some yoga.

My overall work out routine, I am dedicated to my daily core and push-up routines. I run at least 3 days a week, total body suspension training 3 days a week, yoga two days a week and surf whenever I can. I also try to mix in the occasional rock climing at the indoor gym, and SUPing. As you can see, I have a pretty healthy lifestyle.

What do you grab for a post-surf snack?

Smoothies in between sessions or DesignProtein shakes and protein bars that my girlfriend got me hooked on! Post marathon surf sessions I love hitting the pork roll, cheese steaks, burritos and tacos - HARD.

What’s your favourite gear?

I'm a big fan of lost surfboards by Mayhem and ones made by a local Jersey shaper Brian Wynn.
