Given that I’m nowhere near an ocean, I really treasure my chances to surf when I’m travelling. There’s something about surfing that is so healing for the mind, body and soul. The ocean has an ability to take away your worries, troubles and problems by just being present.
In one swoop, it reminds you how little your problems are in the grand scheme of things and that there will always be better opportunities ahead. Sometimes, you gotta wait it out but it comes when you least expect it.. as cliche as it sounds.
However, I do love how surfing is used as a form of therapy for those with cystic fibrosis and even individuals struggling with mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression and even, PTSD.
Check out the amazing episode from pro surfer, Alana Blanchard’s, Network A’s series highlights the positive effects of surfing as a therapy for children affected by cystic fibrosis.
